***Important Note: The following is NOT applicable to FortiFiber™ Drop Stitch Hot Tubs or ThermaCore™ Foam Hot Tubs.***

Key Takeaways:

  • Drain the water, perform a deep clean, and fully dry your hot tub before storage
  • Use the pump’s deflation function to remove all air
  • Fold and store the hot tub in a cool, dry location
  • Proper storage helps protect your hot tub and extend its lifespan

4 quick and easy steps to deflate and store your hot tub

One of the top benefits of owning an inflatable hot tub is that you can enjoy it year-round. In fact, winter is one of the best times to unwind in your SaluSpa® inflatable hot tub!

However, life happens! So, if you do find yourself needing to take down your portable hot tub (long periods of non-use, you’re moving, the temperature will be dropping below 14°F for an extended period, etc.), follow these 4 quick and easy steps:

1. Drain the Water & Perform a Deep Clean

The first step is to drain the water from your inflatable hot tub.

After you’ve turned off the power on the heater pump, remove the filter and ChemConnect® chlorine dispenser. Put on the stopper caps and disconnect the pump. Connect your garden hose to the drainpipe and allow the water to drain to a suitable drainage area (an area that won’t accumulate water quickly).

After you’ve drained the water, remove the garden hose from the drainpipe and perform a deep clean before drying and deflating. Unsure what a deep clean entails? Follow these first 5 deep-cleaning steps to extend the lifespan of your hot tub.

2. Dry the Hot Tub

After you’ve drained the water and cleaned the hot tub, ensure everything is dry.

Depending on where you live, humidity can cause water to remain inside the pump, liner chamber, massage chain and inflatable cover. To help avoid mold and mildew, make sure these parts are completely dry before deflating your hot tub.

To thoroughly dry your hot tub and all the parts, hook one end of the inflation hose to the pump and the other end to the hot tub valve. Reattach the pump to the hot tub liner and plug the pump back into the outlet. Run a GFCI test to ensure the heater pump is operating properly, then press the “Massage System” button and let it run for 5 hours so all the moisture can evaporate from inside these parts.

3. Deflate the Hot Tub

Once your inflatable hot tub is dry, the third step is to deflate it by using the deflation function on your pump. The deflation function removes all the air from inside the chamber to make it easier to fold up and store.

Begin the deflation function by attaching the deflation T-joint to the pump’s air outlet. Then connect one end of the inflation hose to the deflation T-joint.

Next, connect the other end of the inflation hose to the deflation valve adapter. Once the inflation hose is connected on both sides, take off the deflation valve cap and attach the adapter to the deflation valve on the hot tub liner.

Then press the “Massage System” button on the control panel to initiate deflation. Once the hot tub is fully deflated, put the deflation valve cap back on before you proceed to the final step.

4. Fold & Put in Storage

The last step is to fold up the hot tub liner (if the outdoor temperature is above 50ºF) and the cover and put everything away in storage.

Store the liner, cover, pump, parts and any accessories in a cool, dry room with a moderate temperature between 50ºF and 100ºF.

We strongly recommend storing the liner and hot tub cover in a cardboard box or storage container to better protect the material during winter.

That’s it!

Now that your inflatable hot tub is securely tucked away in storage, the next time you want to unwind again, follow these 5 quick and easy setup steps.
